The magic used in Deceitful Reign comes in the form of runes. Magical symbols that allow the user to create, destroy, summon and heal. It is truly an adverse magic that creates infinite possibilities. The restrictions of this magic are simple too.
1. They require time to prepare, the majority of your magic will come from items you have that are engraved with the symbols needed to perform the magic. It is also possible to perform this magic by writing out the symbol for the spell, this symbol must be wrote in the characters blood, and I'm not talking slice an arm off, a pin prick would be enough, but without it there is simply no magic.
If you want a 'scientific' answer to how magic works all the time with weapons and not without then here you are. When an item that has a rune engraved is made the maker will require the characters blood, like writing out a rune a drop will suffice. This then links the user to the weapon, meaning only they can activate it's magic but also that it will drain them through a supernatural link from then onwards whenever it is used.
2. The spell performed is specific, whether it be an elemental attack or the summon of a familiar, the spell cast will always be the same with the same symbol. This means that all those flashy weapons will only ever use the magic that they have been designated. It may seem harsh, that's why you are allowed up to three weapons that can have runes engraved into them.
3. Household runes, things like lighting a lantern or fire, or other spells that are not used for combat, have no limitations to their uses. You can carry as many of these as you deem fit. The only runes that have limitations like quantity are combat effective runes, so go wild if you want, it's magic after all.
4. Runes, even when prepared through blood, are draining, as mentioned before the character will have a spiritual link to their weapon but this also applies for written magic. So before you prepare hundreds of written runes and let them dry for later use, remember: activating them all will have a negative effect on your character as well.
